Joining the “406,” Peterson’s “404” shape is one of the Irish marque’s few true Princes, its profile a striking departure from some of the brand’s more muscular, robust silhouettes. This “404” is a good deal more sleek than the “406,” maintaining the Prince’s iconic stretch of trim shank and lengthy stem, though in incredibly slender fashion. A compact pipe that maintains an impressively light weight, this is a shape perfect for clenching or travel carry, and it’s one that doesn’t lack for plumpness at the bowl. Said bowl sits on a round heel and boasts supple curves as it rises up toward a mid-set waist, the walls making a soft arc toward the chamfered rim. A truly princely Prince, the “406” is an excellent example of Peterson’s skill in crafting refined, elegant profiles.
