19th August 2019Cigar Smoker of the Year Awards 2019 – Who Do You Think Will Win?
Now in its 6th year, the Cigar Smoker of the Year Awards, held by Boisdale in association with Vina Carmen Wines, has become one of the most prestigious cigar events outside of Cuba. This year, it will take place on December 2, 2019 at Boisdale of Canary Wharf, bringing together the most celebrated cigar influencers around the world.
Deemed ‘London’s number one jazz venue’ by Tatler, this two-floor venue is the ideal setting for such an esteemed night. As guests arrive at the awards and enter the Cigar Terrace, they will be presented with 4 handmade cigars. There, they will be able to enjoy cigars, canapes, and drinks while overlooking Cabot Square. As the evening continues, guests will enjoy a 3-course dinner as well as whiskeys and cigars after the Awards.
This is a rare evening dedicated to honoring the art of cigar smoking with other members of the cigar community. This is exemplified by the speeches given throughout its history. When he won Cigar Smoker of the Year in 2014, Arnold Schwarzenegger gave the audience insight into his own relationship with cigars. In addition to building a ‘smoking tent’ at the California State Capitol Office as Governor, he witnessed as Democrats and Republicans were able to share this tradition together. These stories are what make this event glamorous, exclusive and intimate at the same time.
In 2018, this award was presented to Hollywood and silver screen star Chris Noth. While Jeremy Irons, the legendary British actor and Academy Award Winner took home the Boisdale Lifetime Achievement Award. Other winners and guests have included Baroness Trumpington, Kelsey Grammar, Charlie Sheen, Camilla the Duchess of Cornwall, and Simon Le Bon.
In addition to honoring cigar smokers, this night also gives nods to cigar lounges, writers, retailers and producers throughout the world. Who do you think will take home the prizes this year?
