Te-Amo WSS

History of Te-Amo Cigars
Te Amo in one of the world’s most recognised cigar brands, known for its affordability and a high-quality feel. This brand was created by the Turrent family, a well-known family that has been growing tobacco for over five generations in Mexico. They established Te Amo in 1963 with a collection of cigars that used 100% Mexican Tobacco from the famed San Andreas Valley. Unsurprisingly, Te Amo is often regarded as the undisputed king of Mexican cigars.
The Turrent family first arrived in the San Andreas Valley in 1880 to cultivate tobacco. They took advantage of the region’s similarities to Cuba and quickly discovered that the fertile volcanic soil of the region was perfect for cultivating tobacco. Five generations later, they remain the premier grower of Mexican tobacco in the world. In 1963, the fourth generation of the Turrent family established Te Amo. Shortly thereafter, Te Amo gained popularity and became the most sought-after Mexican cigar brand.
Creator of Best-Selling Mexican Cigars
Te Amo is currently widely recognised as the best-selling Mexican cigar brand in the world, as well as the brand that best showcases the complex flavours of Mexican tobacco. As a family that has gained a lot of respect within the tobacco and cigar industry, the Turrent family has a unique ability to build flavourful blends that highlight the distinct qualities of fine Mexican tobacco. Translating to “I love you”, Te Amo is a representation of the Turrent family’s passion and dedication to the craft of cigar-making.
While Te Amo was restricted by a Mexican law that prohibited the use of tobacco from other regions to exclusively create Mexican puros, this gave them the opportunity to focus on unearthing the depth and robust edge within Mexican tobacco. Fortunately, the NAFTA agreement allowed Te Amo to now feature tobacco from other countries in their cigars. This led to the development of additional lines of cigars that utilise tobacco from abroad, like the Te Amo World Selection Series and Te Amo Revolution.
Te-Amo Cigars Review
After Te Amo gained a large following, Consolidated Cigar Co. took over Te Amo’s distribution and eventually merged with Altadis. Te Amo is currently owned by Altadis, but its cigars are still produced by the Turrent family.
Te-Amo cigars range from medium to full body in strength. While many think that Cuban cigars are superior, Te Amo is an example of how tobacco from other regions can show similar depth and complexity. Utilising tobacco from Mexico’s ultra-fertile San Andres Valley, Te Amo cigars are well-known for an intense woodsy and earthy flavour, with deep notes of leather and spice. Each puff is accompanied by dense volumes of smoke that will leave you wanting more.
